“What will you do in the end?” Part 3

I ended Part 2 of this series by saying that America’s “God problem” is so firmly entrenched as to be all but impossible to reverse.

In Part 3 of “What will you do in the end” I will attempt show just how far America’s elected leadership has gone in their rejection of Godly principles. Remember, these are our LEADERS that are supposed to be our examples (may God help us all).

In fact, according to this article, a large percentage of one of our major political parties believes the Church is having a negative impact on America. Before anyone gets too excited about that, keep in mind that the other party doesn’t lag too far behind.

Of course, pollsters love numbers and statistics, and we all know how easily things can be slanted one way or another. My point being this: if even one half of one percent of our elected leaders believe the Church is having a negative impact on America, it is too much! Something has gone horribly wrong!

Think about this for just a moment, would you? Our leaders, elected by we the people, believe the Church is having a negative impact on America! Does that not send alarm bells off in your mind?

Now, to better understand this we need to remind ourselves that elected leaders who support certain agendas will naturally feel the other side is the problem (see part 2 of this series).

So for example, if you are a conservative Christian attending a conservative Christian church that does not support abortion, same sex marriage, the LGBT community, etc.…you of course will be labeled as having a negative impact upon our society.

And much worse.

This does not mean it is true, but the fact remains there are very powerful groups on both sides of the aisle in our nation’s capitol spending untold millions of dollars in their efforts to label anyone who does not go along with their agenda as “negative”. And that is putting it very, very mildly.

Truth be told, if the Church is seen as having a negative impact on society, it is only because of the faithful few (comparatively speaking) that hold to the Biblical standards for living that are a thorn in the side of those that wish to abolish all acknowledgement of, and dependence upon, God.

America’s “God problem” however, is not rooted in politics. Politics is merely a convenient scapegoat, a diversionary tactic used by politicians themselves along with adherents of their respective ideologies to divert attention from the true source of our problems.

America, our great problems lie at our own feet, and WE the Church will ultimately be held accountable for our part in allowing this to happen. Just as Israel was held accountable and banished to enslavement by a foreign power, so shall America be held accountable and suffer the terrible consequences of our choices.

As long as I’m keeping it real here, let’s just throw it out now and acknowledge that America is even now suffering the terrible consequences of its choices. I challenge anyone to show me an example of a time when this nation has been more divided!

Yes, there was a Civil War that divided us. There was a Vietnam Conflict that divided us. There was a decision to allow the killing of unborn children that still divides us. Most recently there was a presidential election that has divided us.

The difference between all of those events, horrific though they be, and those taking place today is that we are not in a battle of ideologies, but one engineered by principalities, by the powers of darkness.

This contest is spiritual in nature, though outwardly it appears to be otherwise. Indeed, what we are seeing play out before our very eyes, is the battle for the soul of America.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”         Ephesians 6:12

This battle for the soul of America is not being fought with guns and tanks. It is being fought in a dimension that though unseen physically, its aftermath is leaving a visual trail of untold numbers of casualties in its wake.

My fear in all of this is not that it’s happening. No, the Bible is clear that as the coming of the Lord draws closer chaos would be the norm. My fear is that as we see the end approaching, Christians are placing a higher priority on aligning themselves with philosophies, ideologies, and political affiliations rather than their faith.

As difficult as it is to accept, we can easily make the connection with what is happening in America today with the latter day account of the Church given by Paul in his message to Timothy.

Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons.    1st Timothy 4:1

Again, the scriptures give further evidence of the spiritual battle taking place in which all of us are participants. Deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons are certainly at work among us, causing many of the faithful to forsake their Christian heritage.

My next post will conclude this series with a “big picture” look at how Christians can not only survive the tumultuous times we are living in, but actually thrive in them!

Be blessed,

Ron

How to choose between the wide and the narrow:part 2

In today’s post we are going to examine the second distinct people group from Matthew 7:13, 14, the “few”. If you remember from my last post, Jesus stated that there would be few that find the narrow road that leads to life.

The key word “few” as used here can be defined in one of several ways, including:

  • A small number of.
  • Emphasis on how small a number of people or a thing is.
  • The minority of people; the elect.

Don’t overlook the importance of this word. I believe that Jesus used it purposefully. Even though it is a very small word, it carries significant weight and impact in this lesson.By using the word few,Jesus is pointing out that the many,or the majority, are headed the wrong way.

How does the fact that Jesus used this word sit with you? Does this bother you or make you uncomfortable? Doesn’t it sound like Jesus is saying that those who find the way to life are in the minority?

Think about that point for a moment. There are over 7.5 billion souls on this planet. The latest estimates (2015) are that there are just over 2.2 billion Christians, or roughly 30% of the world’s population.few-there-be-stuart-miles-fdp-etpr-2

Even if every one of those 2.2 billion are numbered among the “few that find it”, that leaves 5.3 Billion, or 70% of the world’s population that will enter through the Wide Gate. From a purely statistical point of view, this is astounding!

Of course, there really is no way for us to number the few or the many. That task, thankfully, belongs to God and God alone.I use the numbers as a reference only.

But could Jesus really be saying to us that not everyone who thinks they are on the right track, isn’t? Well, he actually did say that here:

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’  Matthew 7:21-23

Now we have Jesus telling us that not only will there be “few that find it”, He is also telling us that many will think they will enter through the Narrow Gate, only to be told that He never even knew them! The four most dreadful words we could ever be told are “I never knew you”!

This brings me to ask a very important question:does this sound like something we should trust to chance? I don’t think so! Jesus Christ is telling all of us that we can be busy doing all types of good deeds, church or religious works, and still miss heaven!ef-2-chance-dice-03

If that doesn’t cause us to take a look deep inside our hearts,I don’t know what will.

So we see that in truth there actually are going to be comparably few that find that narrow road that leads to life. OK,OK,so, exactly who are these “few”? The answer is found in Matthew 25:31-46. Here is an excerpt from that passage:

“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’   Matthew 25:31-40   NKJV

These, beloved, are “the few that be that find it”. May I encourage you to study these verses of scripture? Within them you will find many character traits of the chosen.

In my next post I’m going to conclude this topic by showing you how to make absolutely certain that you choose the path that leads to life.

Representative of the Masses?

Like many of you,I am appalled that the two candidates vying for the presidency of the United States apparently sum up the best and brightest their respective parties have to offer.

On the one hand we have a candidate that most cannot stand, while the other candidate is one that cannot be trusted to tell the truth. Based on your personal political beliefs, you get to choose which candidate falls into which category.

To me,they are inseparable and equally corrupt figureheads representative of all that is wrong with the American political system. Both of them epitomize what happens when the abuse of power corrupts the mind and heart of mankind.Greed, bigotry, lies, deception, and much more is all on display for the world to see in America’s “best”.

How anyone can say one is better or worse than the other defies logic,as does the prevailing sentiment that “while I don’t like either candidate,Trump is intolerable”. Meaning,of course, that Clinton is the lessor of two evils so she should get the vote. This line of thinking only perpetuates the lowering of the bar so far as standards go,as evidenced by the plethora of hateful and vitriolic attack ads the country is being inundated with.Which by the way,are just the tip of the iceberg of what’s to come.

Am I the only one who is embarrassed by all of this?

In short, they are both pawns of a political system that bears no resemblance to anything remotely associated with the Christian values that many like to think America was founded upon.Instead, both of them exhibit the “values”of a Satanic system bent on enslaving this nation in violence, corruption, class warfare, hatred, and racism. Both of them are selfish, crude, self absorbed, and basically devoid of grace and compassion.

Both of them.

And yes, that is exactly how I feel.

Both of these candidates, whether doing so blindly or willingly, proclaiming it publicly or in the shadows of darkness, have no qualms about tearing down the last vestiges of Christianity remaining in this nation. If you don’t believe this then I encourage you to do your homework. Research their speeches, read their books, examine their voting records.Take a long look into the past of both of them.History does not lie my friends.

Do not allow yourself to be deceived. Pictures of Hillary and Donald attending church services,or espousing nice “biblical sounding words”from the campaign trail are nothing more than photo ops strategically engineered to disguise their true feelings in order to garner the vote from those who associate themselves with Christianity or church.

Whether it’s building walls, forbidding certain religions and nationalities from entering America, thumbing ones nose at the rule of law,or the continual endorsement of the slaughter of the unborn:be not deceived.

And before someone tells me “well, you don’t know what’s in their hearts, only God does”,you are absolutely correct. I do not. But I do see the fruits of their efforts so far.And what I see is rotten to the core.

I personally believe that it makes absolutely no difference which one wins the White House. Let me repeat that statement: it makes absolutely no difference which one wins the White House. After their terms in office are complete,America will be even more divided along class and racial lines than she is today.Mass shootings will have become commonplace.Gun violence will reach levels once considered unthinkable. The drug problem will continue to enslave our children and steal their futures. Our economy will be in shambles, making the recent recession look like a Sunday School picnic.

How can I say this with any degree of certainty?

Because at the root of all that is wrong with this current presidential campaign lies one immutable fact: God Almighty no longer guides America’s leaders. Nor is there any sign that there is an acknowledgment among its leaders that they recognize this. It’s business as usual as we steadily march onward to the inevitable surrendering of our Christian liberties.Of course, this kind of talk is shocking to some and upsetting to others who pine for the days when America was the envy of the world, but I believe I speak the truth.

As a people,America has rejected God,and its corrupt leaders must bear their share of the responsibility for it.As does it’s churches who have chosen to remain silent in the face of unprecedented evil. The day of reckoning is swiftly approaching, and who among us can escape it?

And lest you are offended at such strong words, consider if you will that this has to happen. America is destined to play its role in ushering in the one world government foretold in the Scriptures. What the world looks to as the standard bearer for truth, democracy, freedom, and what is”right” must ultimately take its place alongside all others in surrendering its soul to the world leader soon to appear.

Vote for the candidate that most closely aligns with your convictions we are told. As a Christian who believes the Bible to be the authoritative guide for living,I share none of these two candidates convictions. To do so would mean I would have to denounce my Savior.

My hope,my only hope,is in  the Lord Jesus Christ.

There is But One Savior

Your way. My way. Their way. All roads lead to the same place. It doesn’t really matter what you believe, as long as you believe something. There are good people in all churches, all religions. All you can do is your best and hope in the end it was good enough to get you “in”.

No doubt you’ve heard these words from well meaning people, both within and outside the church.Church folk especially seem to have developed their own unique brand of salvation based upon a mixture of theology, tradition, culture, values, etc…Internet forums and blogs are filled with posts and comments extolling the virtues of a common,or one world religion. And I suppose that if all that mattered was what man thought then the idea of your own plan of salvation is likely all that’s needed. After all, one man’s idea is as good as the next right?

But here’s the problem: it isn’t up to us.We are not in charge. We don’t make the rules. In spite of so many voices clamoring to be heard that we are in control of our own destinies,we are not..We are all flawed. and yes, we are all weak. Truth is, we are not “little gods” and we are certainly not God.

We need a Savior. There it is.We cannot save ourselves. When we come to the end of our days and when it matters most…we are helpless to save ourselves. We need a Savior.Enter Jesus.

In John 14:6 we read “I am the way,the truth, and the life.No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Jesus is not someone who merely points to the way; He is the Way.No church, ceremony or tradition can be that way. He is the Way.

Hosea recorded it this way:“Yet I am the Lord your God.Ever since the land of Egypt, and you shall know no God but Me;for there is no savior besides Me.      Hosea 13:4

Jesus is the Savior. He alone is the Way to salvation. Look to Him who is the Author and Finisher of our faith.
