Relinquishing Your Freedom in Christ is an Expensive Proposition

Freedom

Just saying the word evokes thoughts of sacrifice and struggle, oppression and conflict. It also calls to remembrance our sincere appreciation and gratitude for those who have sacrificed to ensure freedom for people’s everywhere.

As children of God we know that in Christ we have been made free. Those who know the Lord as Savior know a freedom unlike any other, as “free indeed” is unlike any other freedom……”whom the Son sets free, is free indeed”. (John 8:36).

Other verses inform us of the fact that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty, and while we are now free from sin, we have become slaves to righteous living.            (II Cor.3:17 & Romans 6:18)

All this to say that as Christians, we willingly, lovingly embrace the liberty we have in Christ. Nonetheless, this liberty is fraught with potential dangers should we be tempted to dangle our toes in unfamiliar waters.

All of us, and I do mean all of us, face temptations that appeal to our flesh. Whether we are tempted by power, drugs, alcohol, sex, or money, the fact is that any of these can quickly become our master, overpowering our senses and bringing us again into bondage.

We must remain ever vigilant to counter such temptations if we are to live in victory. Prayer and the reading of the Word are key weapons in this never ending struggle.

These points have been driven home to me again this week while reading the story of how Israel came to have a king reign over them. What started as a nation fully dependent upon and loyal to God, soon turned into full blown rejection of His leadership.

Without launching into a long, detailed history lesson, Samuel was the prophet who had the unenviable task of anointing the first king of Israel. While crowning a new king would normally be cause for great celebration, Samuel’s task was heartbreaking because he knew that in anointing an earthly king, it signaled a severing of the cord between Israel and their God.

As most of you know, throughout Israel’s history they demonstrated a propensity to wander from God. This tendency to stray eventually culminated in their demanding a king to rule over them, just like all the nations around them. In other words, they wanted to be just like everyone else.

Have you ever been told, or have you ever told someone “be careful what you wish for, you just might get it”? This is about to happen to Israel.

Even though they had received an advanced warning as to the quality of leader they would be getting, Israel was determined to proceed with having things their way regardless of the cost. And oh what a price they would pay!

If you will read 1st Samuel 8:10-18 you will see the details of what was to come upon Israel. Take note especially of how many times the word “his” or “take” appears in the description of their new king.

The takeaway I want to leave with you is just how much this new king was going to take from them. Whereas we look to new leadership with an eye for what they can do for us, Israel’s new king would be a taker, not a giver.

What’s the lesson for the New Testament Christian in all of this? The lesson is that we are called out of sin to be the Church. We are not called to be like everyone else.

We also have a Leader who is unlike any other. We are different because our King is the difference maker!

Once God has delivered us from sin, we are not to go back. Not even to look back! We have a freedom known only by the redeemed, and that freedom was purchased by the highest cost imaginable.

Relinquishing your freedom in Christ is an expensive proposition, a proposition I have no desire to entertain.

How about you?

So you want to be a follower of Jesus do you?

I admit it. I’m old school.I was taught that anything worth having was worth working for. That if I were to ever accomplish anything or have anything nice I had to put my nose to the grind stone. That no one was going to give me anything.Boy,has this proven to be true!

I’ve basically lived my entire life with this being one of my guiding principles.I started working for wages at 15 years of age at a local farm.If any of you have bailed hay from the time the dew has dried until dusk you know what hard work is.

I recently retired after nearly 28 years at an automotive manufacturer, and my total working career is somewhere in the neighborhood of 45 years. In that time I’d like to say that I think I earned my keep. At least I tried to.

I see that same philosophy of hard work and dedication being necessary in the Lord’s work as well. While the current wave of easy believeism and “no cost” church membership is all the rage,I maintain that there is a price to pay if we’re to follow Jesus.

Rest assured,I am not referring to salvation here. That is not something any of us could ever earn by our own merit, works,or good deeds.Salvation is the ultimate free gift that the Father has given to all of us,bought and paid for by His only Son Jesus.

No,the philosophy of hard work and dedication I’m referring to is an essential component of true discipleship.A study of the gospel of Matthew points us to this fact as Jesus is teaching his disciples about the high cost they must pay to be a follower of His.

Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.  Matthew 16:24

Prior to this particular verse Jesus has just shared with his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem,be killed, and raised on the third day. After sharply rebuking Peter for not accepting this word,Jesus tells them of the high cost they must pay if they are to follow Him.

There is something both powerful and frightening about this.

Powerful, because in these words Jesus clearly lays out the “formula”for becoming a follower of Christ. It could not be any clearer.I hear many today touting their own version of a plan,or formula.Sadly, most of these involve your money.

Which is why the worldly church of today has invented a “discipleship for dollars”,aka sow a seed method for discipleship. Let’s face it,giving money is very easy compared to denying ourselves anything. Why deny myself anything when I can just write a check?

This verse is also frightening because what Jesus expects of us is perhaps the most difficult thing he could have asked of us.To deny oneself is not easy.In fact,it is extremely difficult.Especially for those of us that like to do things our own way.Which is nearly all of us.

Lets look closely at this three step discipleship mandate from Jesus.

  1. They must DENY themselves
  2. The must TAKE UP his cross.
  3. Only then can they FOLLOW him.

This denying of oneself is something most of us rarely think about, especially in the consumerism driven world that we live in.If you think about it,is there ever a time when we are not bombarded with the media telling us that we deserve it? TV,Web,Magazines,it’s seemingly endless!Whatever it is…we have to have it!

The entire world of commerce is predicated upon the belief that the consumer is number one. This is 180° opposite of the command of Jesus to deny our self.If I can be very plain here,Jesus is actually telling us that if we are to follow Him,WE can no longer be number one! How does that sit with us?

Perhaps you know someone like this.No matter the subject,it inevitably comes back around to them. It’s the American culture,it’s all about ME because I’m special,or to be blunt it’s because we have exalted ourselves in such a prideful manner that we can scarcely think of anyone but ourselves. We are number one and that’s just the way it is.

Kind of hard to deny ourselves with that mindset, isn’t it?

Jesus then tells the disciples that they must take up his cross.Did you see how Jesus personalized the cross? They must take up his cross. That’s right, your cross.Did you know you were expected to pick up your own cross?

The cross was known for one thing,a cruel method of crucifying the flesh that ultimately ended in the death of the one who was crucified. That’s what Jesus is saying to his disciples and us,that if we are to be a follower of Him we must crucify this flesh.

Just as the straw is burned when it comes in contact with fire,so must our selfish desires burn away that we might take up our cross. We are to take up our cross and gladly carry it through the good times and the bad. This friends,is the mark of a follower of Christ.

When self has been denied, the cross is more easy to bear.

It is only after we learn to discipline ourselves through denying this flesh, then taking up our cross daily, does Jesus invite us to follow Him.This is the only way, just as Jesus is the only Way.There are no shortcuts beloved. This road can be long and dusty, but a journey worth the effort.

My hearts cry for the church is that it will return to the command of Jesus to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him.The world needs this more than it can imagine.

Jesus, the Hope of Glory must work through His church. You and I make up His hands and feet,His very heart. This world is dying a painful and horrific death, alone and destitute for the love of God. The love of God that must come through you and I.

I wonder sometimes,do we as the church somehow think that God is going to do this all by Himself? If that were so,why would He need you and I? The easy believeism I mentioned earlier is a perfect example of this.

I see it all the time: “repeat this prayer after me,now say… I am saved”. That’s all there is to it they say. But where is the discipleship?Where is the instruction on how to walk with the Lord? This is one reason why so many who start out for the Lord fall by the wayside!

So you want to be a follower of Jesus do you?

Well get ready, because it’s going to cost you something.

Just remember:anything worth having is worth working for.

Have a great Thursday everyone!

Representative of the Masses?

Like many of you,I am appalled that the two candidates vying for the presidency of the United States apparently sum up the best and brightest their respective parties have to offer.

On the one hand we have a candidate that most cannot stand, while the other candidate is one that cannot be trusted to tell the truth. Based on your personal political beliefs, you get to choose which candidate falls into which category.

To me,they are inseparable and equally corrupt figureheads representative of all that is wrong with the American political system. Both of them epitomize what happens when the abuse of power corrupts the mind and heart of mankind.Greed, bigotry, lies, deception, and much more is all on display for the world to see in America’s “best”.

How anyone can say one is better or worse than the other defies logic,as does the prevailing sentiment that “while I don’t like either candidate,Trump is intolerable”. Meaning,of course, that Clinton is the lessor of two evils so she should get the vote. This line of thinking only perpetuates the lowering of the bar so far as standards go,as evidenced by the plethora of hateful and vitriolic attack ads the country is being inundated with.Which by the way,are just the tip of the iceberg of what’s to come.

Am I the only one who is embarrassed by all of this?

In short, they are both pawns of a political system that bears no resemblance to anything remotely associated with the Christian values that many like to think America was founded upon.Instead, both of them exhibit the “values”of a Satanic system bent on enslaving this nation in violence, corruption, class warfare, hatred, and racism. Both of them are selfish, crude, self absorbed, and basically devoid of grace and compassion.

Both of them.

And yes, that is exactly how I feel.

Both of these candidates, whether doing so blindly or willingly, proclaiming it publicly or in the shadows of darkness, have no qualms about tearing down the last vestiges of Christianity remaining in this nation. If you don’t believe this then I encourage you to do your homework. Research their speeches, read their books, examine their voting records.Take a long look into the past of both of them.History does not lie my friends.

Do not allow yourself to be deceived. Pictures of Hillary and Donald attending church services,or espousing nice “biblical sounding words”from the campaign trail are nothing more than photo ops strategically engineered to disguise their true feelings in order to garner the vote from those who associate themselves with Christianity or church.

Whether it’s building walls, forbidding certain religions and nationalities from entering America, thumbing ones nose at the rule of law,or the continual endorsement of the slaughter of the unborn:be not deceived.

And before someone tells me “well, you don’t know what’s in their hearts, only God does”,you are absolutely correct. I do not. But I do see the fruits of their efforts so far.And what I see is rotten to the core.

I personally believe that it makes absolutely no difference which one wins the White House. Let me repeat that statement: it makes absolutely no difference which one wins the White House. After their terms in office are complete,America will be even more divided along class and racial lines than she is today.Mass shootings will have become commonplace.Gun violence will reach levels once considered unthinkable. The drug problem will continue to enslave our children and steal their futures. Our economy will be in shambles, making the recent recession look like a Sunday School picnic.

How can I say this with any degree of certainty?

Because at the root of all that is wrong with this current presidential campaign lies one immutable fact: God Almighty no longer guides America’s leaders. Nor is there any sign that there is an acknowledgment among its leaders that they recognize this. It’s business as usual as we steadily march onward to the inevitable surrendering of our Christian liberties.Of course, this kind of talk is shocking to some and upsetting to others who pine for the days when America was the envy of the world, but I believe I speak the truth.

As a people,America has rejected God,and its corrupt leaders must bear their share of the responsibility for it.As does it’s churches who have chosen to remain silent in the face of unprecedented evil. The day of reckoning is swiftly approaching, and who among us can escape it?

And lest you are offended at such strong words, consider if you will that this has to happen. America is destined to play its role in ushering in the one world government foretold in the Scriptures. What the world looks to as the standard bearer for truth, democracy, freedom, and what is”right” must ultimately take its place alongside all others in surrendering its soul to the world leader soon to appear.

Vote for the candidate that most closely aligns with your convictions we are told. As a Christian who believes the Bible to be the authoritative guide for living,I share none of these two candidates convictions. To do so would mean I would have to denounce my Savior.

My hope,my only hope,is in  the Lord Jesus Christ.

No Matter What…

I will remember what you have done for me O God.

I have not forgotten how you spoke peace into my heart when I was at my lowest point so many years ago. Job 38:1,which I had read many times before, suddenly came alive in my heart that day when I realized that you are God even in the midst of the most violent storm. I knew at that moment you were going to rescue my soul from the waters that sought to drown me.

I have never forgotten that “encounter”.

It has sustained me and encouraged me more times than I can remember. It has left an indelible mark upon my heart,as if You knew all along that this would be a defining moment between us.A reference point that I could draw from again and again.

Like I am now.

Your word has been a constant in my life. Is it any wonder the Word of God has been described as “a lamp unto my feet”? Surely there can be no greater road map in this life than your word,a guide that directs us even in the darkest of nights. Like an old familiar friend, it always calls me back to its pages should I become slothful and inattentive to its beckoning voice.

Through the years I have rejoiced at the transforming power of your word. I have been witness to seeing the hardest hearts melt when confronted with the message of hope and renewal found within its pages. I have seen grown men and women literally run to the alter under the convicting, yet loving wooing of the Holy Spirit.

I often marvel at what some men consider to be miraculous,or at the numbers of people seeking miracles, when by the simple act of a wayward soul repenting of their sins the angels of heaven begin to rejoice. What else can men do here on earth that causes celebration in heaven? Can anything be more miraculous than the Creator reclaiming one of His own?rejoicing-among

As much as I wish it were not so, I have also been witness to my own failures. I have faltered, fallen short on countless occasions, and no doubt disappointed many people. I find that even at this stage of my life there is still much I do not understand about this covenant relationship with our Lord. There are days when I still have more questions than answers. Is this how it is supposed to be? That this sense of wonderment about unanswered questions will serve as our own “thorn in the flesh” to keep us on our knees?

You know how hard I have tried to become one of “them”,to fit in with the crowd. I’ve joined their ranks. Several times. Sat through the classes. Studied their course materials.Taken and passed the exams. Have the sheepskin in the frame. Attended their conferences. Shook hands with the “right people”. Held titles and positions. Yet for all of that, I did not fit in. I could not bring myself to “go along to get along” when my conscious balked at the shallowness of it all. For this I am branded a “what might have been”. I’ve heard “I don’t know what to do with you” more than once.

Still,no matter what,I will remember what you have done for me O God.

I will praise you,for I remember your kindness to me these many years. Though men and denominations have long ago abandoned me,and many others like me by the side of the road, yet you remain faithful to me.Your mercy endures forever.

I confess that I struggle to understand why my phone never rings. Why my inbox remains empty. Why the invitations have all dried up. Why so many that I poured into over the years have forgotten that I exist. Could it be that since I am no longer in a position to help them ascend the ladder,I am of no value to them? The “amens”, the slaps on the back, the firm handshakes of approval, now there is nothing but silence.

Except from you O God.I hear your voice calling out to me daily.

Actually, I do understand. I am an embarrassment to the Laodicean church of this generation. There is no place for the likes of me in a church that has become so much like the world as to be nearly indistinguishable from it. I speak the truth in love, which means I refuse to soften the message for the sake of men; to do so would be to prostitute your Word.I am an anomaly,a throwback to a long forgotten age, an age before political correctness ensnared the church in its damning choke hold. I know no other way.

I will remember what you have done for me O God.

Where you are leading me I do not know, but time has proven that I can trust you to take me safely there. How I will get there remains a mystery, yet I know that you have it all worked out.

No Matter What.

I will praise You in this storm.

What will it take?

Problems.

We’ve got big problems here in America.

Drug problems. Employment problems. Gun problems. Hate problems. Mass Murder problems. Rape problems. Criminal problems of every imaginable kind.

crime in America map 1

libinfo.uark.edu

These problems vex our society in ways that most of us don’t even think about, let alone understand the complexities of.

And what is most distressing about these issues is that they are getting worse instead of better.

In spite of billions trillions of dollars thrown at them in hopes that we will find solutions, our problems worsen.

Apparently money can’t buy everything after all.

We all know this because we see the evidence of it in our communities on a daily basis. What used to happen only in large cities has found it’s way to the family farm and every small town in America.I’m certain that if Mayberry existed today, Andy & Barney would be knee deep in drugs and violent crime.

But this list is by no means complete, because in addition to the Criminal problems we are facing, we are also dealing with Personal problems on an unprecedented level.

Unemployment. Inequalities of every sort. Brokenness. Hopelessness. Our children addicted to prescription medicines for emotional stress.

Depressing,isn’t it?

It seems that every politician has the answer, which I find interesting since these same politicians have continually said they have the answer.Yet the carnage continues.

yes no

opednews.com

Pass this bill.Pass that bill.Implement this initiative.

It’s the fault of the left. It’s the fault of the right.

Problems.

Big problems.

Yet as unbelievable as all of this sounds,we have a problem much larger and more serious than any that I have previously listed.

You see…we have a God problem in America.

As in… we have rejected the Lord and are now left to our own abilities.Like this…

And the LORD said to Samuel, “Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them.   1Sa 8:7 NKJV

The children of Israel have just sealed their fate. They insisted on being ruled by a king, just like the nations all around them. They told the prophet Samuel that they wanted an earthly king, and rejected the God that had created them.

Saul

Slideplayer.com

You see, they made the same mistake that we have made. They looked all around them and saw that the other nations were doing just fine without the rules and laws that they themselves were bound to follow.Serving God had become burdensome to them. They had grown weary of the sacrifices and rituals that must be observed. They wanted an easier life. They wanted to be taken care of like the other nations they encountered.

And so God gave them exactly what they asked for.He even told Samuel to let the people know what kind of a king they were going to get,as well as the cost of his rule over them.Even though king Saul would take their children from them and cause servitude to be the order of the day, still they preferred him over God.

Thus began the downward spiral of what was once the chosen people of God Himself. To read the tragic history of a backslidden Israel is to read the story of modern day America.

And yet we also clamor for a king.Or a queen.is_it_2016_yet_square_sticker_3quot_x_3quot

But we do not ask for God.

Anyone,anything….but God

We do not ask for God because we do not know Him.We cannot inquire of Someone that we know nothing about. We have forgotten, rather thrown away, our heritage.

Shocking, but where are the shepherds crying aloud for this nation to humble itself and return to the Lord? If this were a different day the pastors and priests would repent in sackcloth and ashes. But not us.We have strayed too far.We are far too proud to admit our sins to a Holy God.

What we want, we have been given.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.   2nd Tim 4:3,4

As a nation…we are alone and left to our own devices.

While the nation cries for more gun control, precious few cry out for more God control.

While our leaders stagger under the burden of overwhelming defeat in the battle to control the drug problem in America, very few cry out to God for a mighty deliverance.

More intervention by our government is simply not the answer our society needs. Our government is corrupt and stinking to the core. They cannot help.

We need a God intervention. In the worse possible way.

What is needed is an acknowledgment by all that we do not have the answers in and of ourselves, and that turning back to God is our only hope.

Perhaps,if only for a while, believers can call upon the name of the Lord to hold back the oncoming flood that is destined to engulf this once great nation.

Perhaps that is what it will take.

Wanna Wrestle?

Wrestling is still a huge attraction for those that favor the “made for TV”variety of wrestling. It doesn’t seem to matter that the matches are well rehearsed, scripted events pitting the good guy against the bad guy and nearly everyone knows who the “winner”will be before the sound of the bell. This stuff is still raking in hundreds of millions every year!

wrestlers

clipartcow.com

Too bad life isn’t like that. Wouldn’t it be great to know ahead of time when disaster would strike? To be able to “script”our lives to a certain degree? To know when the bad guys were going to “clothesline”us? To be able to see in advance when the opponent was sneaking up on us from behind? To be able to fix the match?

Of course there are others who say that they wouldn’t want to know any of these things ahead of the time. “Might ruin the journey”they say. Hmmm..

If only there was a way to know ahead of time who the winners and losers will be in real life.To know our opponent so well that we could foresee his every move and plan accordingly.

Well, if you’re a Christian, you already know who the winners and losers will be! The old,old story was written a long time ago and God wins!

That doesn’t mean however that there aren’t some battles to fight.

As a child of God we understand all too well who our opponent is.We know him by many names including Satan, the devil,Lucifer, deceiver, and a host of others.

Not only do we know who he is,but we also know how he operates. His forte is wrestling.

He lies,he cheats,he steals,he kills,he destroys.He wrestles.

Good-vs-Evil

pridenews.ca

In the age old battle of good vs.evil Satan is the ultimate bad guy.He is the opponent no one wants to face and there is no quit in him.His chief purpose is to destroy everything that is good, and that includes everyone who claims Christ as their Savior.

Yet as “bad” as he might be,he proved to be no match for Jesus Christ! Matter of fact, even though Satan orchestrated the “match of eternity”at an arena called Calvary,a place where he thought he had every advantage,it was a simple wooden cross that proved to be his undoing.

A simple Jewish carpenter who never raised a hand against him,but who instead simply used the word of God to rebuke him,had defeated this enemy once and for all.

For all of us.

The scriptures make it very clear who our enemy is.The world,in it’s twisted way of distorting the truth, would have us to believe that as divided as the church may appear to be we are defeated. The enemy has won.Uh…no

Not so fast.Let us consult the authority of God’s word for a closer look at this.

No less an authority than the Apostle Paul had this to say about this great wrestling match called life:

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.  Eph. 6:12  NKJV

Our enemy is not one another. My battle is not against Baptists,Lutherans,or Methodists, and neither is yours. We are not told to battle any denomination or it’s creed or doctrine. Our fight is against the powers and spiritual forces of the devil that have enslaved this world in darkness and confusion.

The next time you feel you’re being challenged by the “ultimate bad guy”,just remember that Jesus has taken the fight out of the devil for you.So if you get the sense that the devil is challenging you to a wrestling match, you can rest assured that he cannot win.

He’s already been counted out.

Aren’t They all Churches of Christ?

Sunday afternoon my daughter and I went driving for a couple of hours as part of the requirement for her getting her license. When we drove past a local Church of Christ she asked me “aren’t they all churches of Christ”? Wow…what a question!

My daughter has been raised in church so she is of course well versed in “church”culture. Yet her question prompted me to ask her a question in return, which was “is it confusing for an 18 year old to see churches with so many different names”?

“It sure is” was her immediate response.

All of which got me to thinking: what kind of Godly relationship can we expect our children to have with the Lord when we who are supposed to be the leaders of the church are sowing so much confusion into their lives? How in the world are they supposed to know who’s right and who is wrong?

For example: according to the Center for the Study of Global Christianity at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, there were an estimated 43,000 Christian denominations in 2012.

Forty.

Three.

Thousand.

Which begs the question:

Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?  1Co 1:13 KJV

So I ask again: how is anyone, much less a young adult, supposed to figure out which church to attend,or which doctrine is the right one?

We have instilled in our daughter the importance of reading her bible and of having a right relationship with the Lord, but I have no illusions that she will agree with me on every single point of doctrine.Nor should I expect her to read from the same version of the bible that I do.She is an independent young woman who with God’s help must chart her own destiny.

So what of those who do not yet know the Lord but may be seeking Him? To which of the 43,000 denominations do they turn to? Yours? Mine?

Of course, all of us believe we “know the way”,or at least have some assurance that we are on the right track. And heaven knows we could start our own version of jihad,or holy war by laying claim to having the answers for everyone. For certain we all know that wars have been fought and inquisitions enacted throughout the ages all in the name of “church”.

Many Christians today like to believe that their church can be traced back to the Apostles and Disciples of Christ. Some believe that their church was started due to a direct revelation from God Himself.Still others lay claim to a particular religious figure from the past,or as in the case of most mega churches today they follow a personality.

But do you see how difficult it can be to sort through this mess of religiosity?

Catholic,Baptist,Methodist / Wesleyan,Lutheran,Presbyterian,Pentecostal/Charismatic,Episcopalian/Anglican,Churches of Christ,Assemblies of God,Church of God,Seventh-Day Adventist,Church of the Nazarene,Church of the Brethren,Independent Christian Church…and on and on it goes…

Jesus said that “Do [you] suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division.” Luk 12:51 NKJV

Jesus was NOT referring to the church in this passage! Any division in the church comes not from Him ,but from US!

If the church’s divine mandate is to go out and make disciples of all nations,is it any wonder the church is failing so miserably? We cannot even agree among ourselves what we are to believe! And we expect the lost to somehow look at us as the answer to their lost condition,to entrust their eternal souls to our care?

Something has gone horribly wrong in the church! It would seem that any person that disagrees with their church doctrine or polity is free to start their own…to the tune of 43,000 of them! And I can assure you I have seen this happen far too often. The next time you’re out driving in your city, start looking at the various church signs out there. The number of them is astounding! Are all of them right? Are all of them wrong?

I cannot presume to speak for anyone other than myself in matters of faith and salvation. We are all on a journey of our own.Indeed,we are instructed in the word to work out our own salvation:

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;   Phl 2:12 NKJV

What I do know is that many established, long time Christians are finding themselves at a critical juncture in their faith walk.Gone is the confidence they once had that the church had all the right answers. The church has been silent for far too long on issues of grave importance.Either that,or they have given them a simple, cursory response when what was called for was the voice of God thundering from the nations pulpits!

To answer my daughter’s question:”aren’t they all churches of Christ?”,I have to be honest and say I think not. What I know to be true and without fault or wrong is not any church or particular denomination, but rather Jesus Christ Himself.

He is the spotless Lamb of glory,God’s sinless sacrifice offered once and for all for the sins of all men everywhere.

And upon this truth I stand.
