Did you know that if you are a Christian there exists between you and Christ an inseparable bond? I’ve often thought about this “connection” that binds us together.Being human, with all of our weaknesses and frailties,we sometimes question whether or not we are going to make it through victoriously when faced with life’s many obstacles.Yet in our weakest moments, when we feel our back is against the proverbial wall, there is this “bond” that keeps us tethered to the One who will never cast us aside.

After Jesus ascended back to the Father His disciples were charged with going into all the world to make disciples of all men. In other words they were charged with evangelizing the world for Christ.This came at a terrible cost as all but one of the disciples were persecuted to death for their faithful witness of the Truth.

The apostle Paul was severely persecuted as well. Read with me as he describes some of what he suffered:

2 Corinthians 11:24-28 (NKJV)
24 From the Jews five times I received forty stripes minus one.
25 Three times I was beaten with rods; once I was stoned; three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been in the deep;
26 in journeys often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils of my own countrymen, in perils of the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;
27 in weariness and toil, in sleeplessness often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness—
28 besides the other things, what comes upon me daily: my deep concern for all the churches.

This great man of God knew that whatever he suffered for Christ it would be worth it in the end.He had found a bond with Christ that could never be broken.Beatings,famine,whippings,no matter the level of torture, Paul understood the secret to enduring was the fact that he was in Christ and Christ was in him! Praise be to God!

One of the most beautiful writings in all of the New Testament is where Paul talks about what it might take to separate him from Christ.I’m sure many of you can quote this from memory;

Romans 8:35-39 (NKJV)
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”
37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,
39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Beloved, the next time you’re overwhelmed and to the point of giving up, please think on these things. You can make it.You can overcome because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.Victory is yours if you will keep your eyes on Him who can keep you safe and secure through every fiery trial.You are bound to Him with cords that cannot be broken,indeed:you are His!

Be blessed,

Ron
